About New Zealand Universities Law Review

The New Zealand Universities Law Review was established in 1963. It is widely regarded as New Zealand's premier law review and enjoys a strong international reputation.

The New Zealand Universities Law Review is published in hard copy in June and December each year by Thomson Reuters. Each issue contains refereed articles and book reviews. Articles on a wide variety of subjects are published, although preference is given to articles on or that have relevance to New Zealand law, general principles of common law, and international law. Every issue since 1997 is also available on Westlaw. Articles attract advanced on-line publication.

Editorial responsibility is shared among the six New Zealand University Law Schools.

In 2024–2025, editorial responsibility rests with the University of Canterbury. Potential contributors are kindly requested to send all correspondence and article submissions via e-mail to the General Editors, Professor Adrian Sawyer at adrian.sawyer@canterbury.ac.nz and Professor Annick Masselot at annick.masselot@canterbury.ac.nz.

The New Zealand Universities Law Review is published on behalf of the Editorial Board, which comprises the Deans of the Law Faculties of New Zealand.

Copyright of contributions in the New Zealand Universities Law Review is vested jointly in the publisher and individual contributors, and permission to reuse is required from both. Applications may be made in the first instance to the New Zealand Universities Law Review Production Editor at Thomson Reuters, Erin Donohue Logan at erin.donohue@thomsonreuters.com.
